Penguin Pottery’s glazes offer a huge range of effects to choose from: vivid, bright, smooth, glossy, textured, satin, matte; opaque, semi-opaque, semi-translucent, translucent, flowing, non-flowing.  Our low fire glazes are perfect for school projects, classrooms, studios, and potters who do not fire at high temperature. These low fire glazes are the potter’s choice when looking for a wide palette of colors, like celadon, lively reds, deep greens, bright blues.  Our mid fire glazes offer similar ranges but also introduce interesting effects and tonality not available in low fire glazes. Our glazes are lead-free, non-toxic and food safe (when properly fired and tested). Make sure to shake the jar well before using, and do not allow it to freeze. The finish includes subtle speckling and layered color variations that create a dynamic, almost watercolor effect. A thin, warm brown band near the rim adds contrast and visual interest.
• [DRY GLAZE]: 5 Lbs of Penguin Pottery Mid Fire Floating Blue glaze makes approximately 8 pints of liquid glaze (1 gallon) for brushing, or even more if dipping. Our Floating blue glaze looks best at cone 6. Apply 3 generous coats for best results. We encourage you to try layering with this glaze, test and experiment!
